Alumna Thao Lam is all about breaking boundaries. Her chosen path has permitted her to see upfront the social concerns facing our communities. Whether it’s child abuse, domestic violence or substance abuse, Lam has seen it as a case manager for the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services, which serves some 38,255 children. Rod Pacheco was a mover and shaker in student government during his under-graduate years. He apparently enjoyed the give and take, because he has spent his whole career in public life, first as one of Riverside County’s winningest prosecutors and later as Republican leader of the state Assembly.
